I just purchased a new (to us) boat, she's got circa-2005 Mercruiser 8.1 HO's in there.

Is it possible to add vessel view to these engines? Has anyone done this? Looking to get digital displays on the dash of all the engine components, fuel use, etc.

Thank you!

Yes, my understanding has been that all Big Block PCM555 engines are VV compatible and some of the older ECM555 small blocks were not. A quick call to Merc can answer your question. Someone had posted a month or two ago that the Gen2 VesselView was coming out soon (or may be out by now). Not sure what the compatibility requirements are with that but whoever you order either unit from should be able to confirm compatibility with your serial numbers.

I swapped out a SC5000 to VV for a friend last year and documented it in this post in case you are interested. http://clubsearay.com/showthread.ph...View-Installation-Swap-out-System-View-SC5000

My reasons for wanting it - my boat doesn't have a sync gauge, and I have a hard time hearing the engines from the helm (Meridian really does a great job sound proofing), and I'd like to get fuel data.

I have a C80 display, and have nothing 'engine-wise' mapped to it.
