My boat, a 2001 230 Signature Bow Rider, did not come equipped with the optional head, it would have been located in the port compartment. I would like to add a head but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Any suggestions?

Tom

Call your local SR dealer and ask them to give you a quote. If it sounds reasonable, have them do the job. If the quote scares your pants off, pull 'em back up and look into DIY. At least the quote will give you a basic idea of the parts and potential labor involved with the project.

I am doing this right now in my 240. You will need a 2.8 gal sanipottie which is what Searay used. I have the head on order and will take post pictures when it arrives. Basically a 3/4 in sheet of plywood or starboard is all you need to mount the base. One edge is supported by the port side hull edge and the other side is supported by a block screwed to the ski locker storage. I am not putting a pump out on mine as it will not be used a lot.

If it arrives I will try to get the job done this weekend and post pictures next week. On the Searay site if you will down load the 2004 parts manual there are pictures. Your boat should be almost the same.

Intersting side note I had a 1996 175 before we got our 240. Good luck.

there are 5 & 6 gal porta-pottis available...if it will fit, get the bigger one...price is not much more.

Tom,

Sealand just came out with a new Porta-Pottie this spring. It looks to be a great direct replacement for the Sanipottie line.
We are going to retro the [MSD] version (remote pumpout) version of this head in our 240 DA this spring. It looks pretty slick. Give it a look-see.
FYI, if you would like further information, I obtained a PDF of the owners/installation manual from Dometic/Sealand. If you would like a copy, just shoot me a PM.

Jim,

Does the Sealand Porta-Pottie require a pump out connection? I don't anticipate using this very often so I'd rather not set it up with a pump out in order to keep in the installation simple.

Tom

While it might have the connection, I wouldn't think it would require it. On our 240SD it had the pump out option and I simply disconnected it and capped the ends.
