Given that my wife and I are heading out on a three week trip and the fact that I have a job again I decided to replace the ice box in my boat with a fridge. I ordered an Isotherm cruise 49 and got it in about a week. Sometimes the postal service amazes me.
So I pulled the ice box and found that the new fridge didn’t quite fit. It was too small for the opening and also was about half an inch too deep.

So I went out to the workshop and planed down a piece of teak to make a frame.

And installed the fridge in the new correct sized opening.

Once that was finished I decided I had to provide some way to mount the microwave.
So back to the workshop to make some more sawdust and a shelf for the microwave.

With some teak still left over I decided to make a way to cover the cup holder holes in the dash to provide a way to mount the new GPS and radio.

Nice work.I put the same fridge in my boat a few months back...you will like it...much better than the the norcold.

Great job Westie. Looks good. You're coming west right?

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's a big improvement from having to get a block of ice all the time.
Todd : I'm packing up this weekend and should be in the gulf islands by early nexk week. From there we will head up to Desolation sound. We will return to Calgary sometime late the first week of AUgust.

Not criticizing- but since you put it out there I have to ask- was there a reason that you couldn't have mounted it further "left", and centered on the opening- so that the trim reveals on each side would have been equal?

Just a question from a picky contractor :)

I'm surprised someone didn't ask that already. There is a reason. If you look at the third photo you can see that the hull of the boat slopes in on the left side reducing the depth. I moved the fridge as far to the right as I could in order to get clearance at the back on the left side. The way it is now gives me about half a centimeter clearance between the back left bottom of the fridge and the hull. I also plan on putting a piece of teak on the bottom of the fram when I have the time.

An believe me I'm alot more picky then you when it comes to doing woodworking around my house :).

On the left side I added some blocking and then screwed the teak in from the back. There was enough room at the top and the top half of the right side to also screw it in from the back. On the lower right side the screw that holds the fridege in goes thru the teak and into the existing frame, to hold the frame in place.
The frame was built using pocket screws at the joints so they should never open up.
