To the list of times to avoid. First time in 20+ years I got waked. Two of us coming out of the harbor. I am doing fast idle, about 1000 rpm’s. It’s a bit choppy some I‘m seeing how the dog is reacting. Goy behind me throttles up and passes while he’s still getting on plane. Probably 50-75 feet away. I turn into the wake, but still get tossed around pretty good. WTF. Guy couldn’t fast idle past me before he throttles up. I won’t mention all the sail boats and the small runabouts pointing right at me in the channel. :)

What type of boat?

I had this happen to me last year. No doubt a Covid Warrior. 40 something foot cruiser in a narrow channel who couldn't be bothered to do a respectful pass of the stand-on vessel.

Last weekend was incredible weather-wise. I feel like there were more boaters out than on July 4. It was insane.

People know what's coming :)

I'm generally very respectful of sailboaters but labor day weekend they set up their racetrack buoys right in front of the mouth of the river here in Rochester. I made a turn to port, dropped into neutral for one, then the next guy proceeds to head straight at me. I throttled up a bit and cut as hard as I could to port to get out of his way and he still threw his hands up in the air because of the wake.

I couldn't help myself but to scream back "I bet that hurt less than getting run over" and proceeded with my day

It was a great weekend. My wife and I enjoyed getting one last boat trip in.
