You guys are missing the best part of this....one heck of a stripper pole in the shower. :smt038

That is amazing. I can just imagine the conversation
Boat Guy-Can you install a crane on my 48' Sea Ray?
Crane Guy- Really?
Boat Guy- Yea I would like to have one on the bow.
Crane Guy- After looking at the boat -Sorry but the only way it would work would be to drill a large hole, come through the ceiling and run the pole right down through the shower and under the floor!
Boat Guy- OK, no problem.
Crane Guy- Are you serious?
Boat Guy- Yea, we don't use that shower that much. The master shower has more pressure and is bigger anyways.
Crane Guy- It's your boat!
Boat Guy's Wife-Divorce Papers.

You should ask Sea Ray before planning to store a PWC on the foward deck. I believe all the cored deck is stressed for is something like an inflatable with a small outboard.

Not to get off track, but sometimes you get very strange response from SR, like I had when inquired about my swimplatform limitation. Here's the response "Unfortunately we did not design the swim platform on your 320 Sundancer to hold a dinghy or PWC so we cannot recommend you use it for such, nor can we provide you with weight limitations for that reason."

I think this is BS answer because there are plenty of very lightweight dinghies out threre that boats from 240DA to 340DA carry just fine.

But, I still think any mods that have such complexity should be consulted by the boat maker.

Why would this be a bogus answer from Sea Ray? If they never intended or designed it to be that way, what do you expect? It would be like calling Ford and telling them you want to mount a Focus on the hood of your F250 and expect them to tell you the weight capacity of your hood...especially when they have a method of carrying dingy's via the swim platform to begin with.

Don't you find these two statements coflicting?
"we did not design the swim platform on your 320 Sundancer to hold a dinghy"

"...especially when they have a method of carrying dingy's via the swim platform to begin with"........unless I read it wrong

My simple answer is that I don't beleave for a moment that swim platform on any sundancer that's under 40' cannot hold 100lbs (just an example) dinghy. IMO, if this would be true that I would expect all new boat owners that do carry a dinghy to get warning letters that they're violating swim platform limitation policy and could get their warranty voided.

Because the thread is about a 480DB, in which they do have capacity to carry a dinghy....so to my point why would a manufacture be giving a BS answer on a 480DB when they didn't design it that way in the first place...

The vertical member (notice my very careful word choice) on deck mounted davits is about 6" in diameter. They almost always have to be placed directly over a closet or dead space in the boat's interior since they are usually fastened directly to the interior of the hull. The end result gets you a crane, but makes the closet essentially useless. QUOTE]

They turned the pole into a custom feature. There is also dance stage in the forward berth. The mod paid for itself in no time at all.
