Acculift MQ347 Engine Hatch Actuators Failing

My hatch actuator / lift is struggling mightily to open and close the engine hatch on my 2003 340 DA. They are slow and noisy (groaning)

Any ideas on how to repair or replace them before they fail?

Hardin Marine carries replacement actuators. I haven't bought one yet but I'm probably going to have to buy one soon and this is where I'm buying.

Thanks. Looks like they are not cheap. Will replace if that's the right answer but I read somewhere that they may be relatively easy to clean and repair.
