accidents happen

:wow:

I think the most sobering thing about that incident is the fact that he/they had probably done that task hundreds of times before.

Goes to show most of the time stuff happens when you least expect it and your completely off guard.

Anytime, anywhere, no matter what. It doesn't matter who you are or what level of experience you have.

Amazing story, but I had to stop watching it when his daughter started talking about her dad possibly not making it.

Those that think that boats are just big toys are in for a shock. Even seasoned boaters can have horrible things happen to them. Much like Ron’s post, the slightest miscalculation can end in disaster. Boating is fun but it is also carries a very serious responsibility. Have a plan and rehearse it in case of an accident.

Newbies take the time to work a routine and a plan for possible trouble.

What do you do if you’re out on the hook and the battery goes dead? How about a sudden rain fall and the bilge pumps don’t work? What about a serious cut, do you have a waterproof first aid kit on board with more than a band aid and sun block in it? Do you have any tools and extra filters?

Just a few questions you should know the answers to. If you’re not ready or willing to put the time in to be safe then do everyone a favor and stay off of the water.
