I went to turn on the AC yesterday and the system will not cool. I played with the Temp and I could get the system to "heat" by driving up the temperature (When this happened the system pumped water, seemed normal). However when I brought the temp back down to "cool" then system would not make the switch. The fan would blow but the compressor would not start? I know I need to look at the owner's manual but figured since I was at work I would fire off a question to the group for input.

Any Ideas?

Could be that the water ambient temperature is still too low for the unit to use.

Do you have to manually switch from heat to cool? Saint Max has the older SMX digital controls and there is no automatic switch over.

The unit is a heat pump. The cooler the water, the better the a/c should work. The water being too cold would prohibit the heater from working, not the a/c. I would start with the easiest stuff, trace wires on the skid, make sure there are no corrosion problems, then start jumping pressure switches and see if the unit comes on, very likely the low pressure switch is tripped, and it just needs refrigerant.

depends how much of a "do it yourselfer" you are. You have to be able to run across some refrigerant, and have manifold gauges, and possibly a vacuum pump depending on how low it is. (if that is even the problem)

I doubt it needs refrigerant. If it heats OK it should cool OK. Beyond that I can't be of much help. You could try Dometic's Customer Support Center at 1-800-544-4881
