I have a 05 260 Dancer and was interested if anyone had insight to an issue I am dealing with. I have had the service team from the dealer out for the 5th time. The AC unit is tripping for Hi Pressure while underway. At dock it will run for 45 minutes without any issue, good water flow out the side. Seems underway it trips it in 20 minutes. Then if you anchor you have to leave it off for 30 minutes to get the AC back on and the water flowing through the unit. Pressure is at 220 (tested fine), hi pressure switch works and tested to trip at 420. Filter and condenser seem fine. here is the onlything that we have found. Both Seacocks (AC and Gen) are directly in line with each other and almost touching each other (factory installed). A few people have commented that they shoud be side by side as the AC is behind the generator. Could this be caused by cavitation while underway? Our next step is to replace the hose to the strainer with a clear tube to try to observe bubbles. Any thought or suggestions??? Thanks for any help.

Check the run capacitor. It's easy to check once you locate it or you can take it out and go to your local Grainger supply house and they can check it for you. They usually run about $20.

If you have your own business set up an account with them and pay cash.

The run capacitor may be about to go out or you may have a wire that is about to burn through causing too much resistance.

Good Luck

Are the thru hulls like this?

Did you haul the boat and make sure that nothing is growing inside the thruhull fitting? I have found debris in the pick up that redirects the water flow the faster you go. Why do you have to wait so long after you stop to restart? If you still have no water flow once you stop, the unit is air bound. The easy fit fix for air bound is to go for a boat ride to force water into the pump. Haul the boat and look into the high speed p/u under the boat for debris. Also the p/u can be in line, the gen set does not have a high speed p/u. Can't have one because if you ran the boat with genset not running it would fill up with water. Good luck

The problem is that when running, no water is being picked up and sent to the unit to cool the condenser. Not suffcently cooling the condenser will cause a high pressure shutdown. You probably are going need to have a new though hull installed for the A/C unit. It's not hard to do and a decent fiberglass man will be able to close the existing hole.

Best regards,
Frank
