Last year up until about July I always had my ac cranking. On a 95 degree day I could drop my cabin to about 57 degrees and at night I could drop it to 55. Starting at the end of last season I noticed I couldn't get it below 60 61 even on a 60 degree night. Is there anything I could check before calling in a professional to test the system for proper gas pressure? (Strainer is clean, no shut down faults, tried running it for 6 hours with out the filter thinking maybe that's clogged, fins are straight and clean and water flow is just the same as the past years. ) today when I left the dock the cabin was 63 degrees kept the generator and ac running for an hour and a half cruise and when we got back to the dock I was up to 67... thermostat was set as 55... and yes cool mode is selected and fan is on high

Possible build up in water lines, we need to flush line with acid every 6 months

55 degrees??? You crazy fool... Maybe you froze it up...

What is the ambient water temp now vs last year? If it's warmer, it will be a less effective heat sink and your system efficiency will be degraded. Also agree, flush out the coils with some Lime Away or similar mild acid solution to remove marine growth from the tubing.

Water temps are way lowerthen last year
Im gunna try this flush process. Is it better to circulate or let sit? There's 2 ways I just found on Google one says to circulate and one says to blow air to clear water, gravity fill and let sit.

I've herd of people doing this but not 100% sure on what acid and how to properly go about doing this. Any links or directions would be greatly appreciated

I took a 5/8 hose and attached a funnel to one end. Then I put a piece of 1/2" copper in the other end. I pull the output hose off the water pump then attach the copper end in it with a clamp. I take the acid mix 1 gallon mixed and pour it in until it's all gone. I then re hook up the pump and wait 1 hr. Turn the air on and you should be fine. I just had to do it this week. We have a lot of crap in the river here. Good luck it's not that hard of a job.

I circulate it through the system for about 45 mins, then put every thing back together and turn on system. You wont believe the crap that comes out.

FWIW...my AC never felt like it was as cold as it should be. One day, I did what I think is called a factory reset and reset everything to the default settings. I do not know what changed other than the air seems a lot colder and it works a lot better. Might give that a try if all else fails...

My AC in the mid cabin was not pumping out as cold of air as is should have. Called a pro to come take a look at it today, did three things to fix it.
  • There is a intake vent in my rear stateroom, I did not know it had a filter behind it, it was very dirty.
  • had to add a little coolant to re charge it
  • re-calibrated the thermostat

I put a bromine tab in the AC strainer about every month. Keeps the lines nice and clean. Very cold air, meat locker cold if I want it. I also put one in my sump box, amazing how clean it stays.

I like that idea but does anyone know if the bromine (or any other chemical) will hurt anything in the water pump for the AC?

I've read that chlorine tabs will but the bromine are much better. Being in fresh water I don't use them very often and they don't stay in there long enough to do any damage.
