1998 290 sundancer. My air conditioning has always worked great. But the other day i went to the boat and turned on the breaker to the ac and i have no power to the controls. So i thought it might just be a fault in the shore power. So i started up the genny and same thing. No power to the ac controls. Looked around and cant find another breaker or fuse for it. Before i go any further does anybody have any knowledge on this issue. Figured next step is pull panel and check breaker and then pull control panel off and check that. Hoping im just missing a silly fuse or other breaker i have not seen yet. Any help would be awesome

Your going to have to get a voltage tester and start at the panel. But first at the unit there should be a electrical harness probably all taped up. Look for a connector somewhere on the harness probably taped also, with a hammer lightly tap the connector and see i it starts the connector is known for bad contact. Hope Thats it! The connector is about 1-1/2 x 1-1/2

Awesome. Do you happen to have a pic or know if its in the fron or back of the unit?

So update on this issue. I have power to the ac unit. When i turn on the breaker i hear it click at the ac but still have no power to the control panel. Is their a fuse from the ac to the control panel? I have a small blue box in the engine room by the ac pump. Could it be in there.

I was actually thinking someone added that blue box to my boat because it looks a little out of place. I haven't opened the box to see all that's in there but the previous owner of LDII had a bilge heater hard wired into that box which is powered by the cooktop breaker.

So i finally got into the ac unit. Still same thing. I have checked the breaker and has power. When i trip the breaker i hear a click at the ac but nothing happens. I still have no power at the controls. I started to dig around by the ac and saw this. Is this the control mother board? Seems that all wires go into it. Did not want to open it if it was a mess and really dont know what to test. The second pic is the ac numbers. Any help would be great

that’s all the electronics for the unit, main power attaches there then all the pigtails to the compressor and fan.

you might just have a bad control panel. Any buddies in your marina that you could swap panels with for a test? It’s a couple screws and a single connector to get it out. There’s a company that sells rebuilt panels if that’s the problem.

There is a PCB in the electronics box and the control panel is connected to it via a network style plug. The PCB itself typically goes bad, unfortunately it can also mean your compressor is locked up which caused the PCB to go bad. You need to open up the box and take some pictures and get a good picture of the whole PCB and also one of the model/serial number. Then google that and see if it is still available. On some models there is a fuse for the controls hopefully that is your issue. Post pics!

Copy that. I seen the cable that goes to the controls. ( kinda like a phone line ) I have the smx II controls. Its just seems to have no power. Gonna go and open that box and take some picures and find the serr #. I did tool around on line and found a new control box that says its a retrofit for old units. $ 500 for it, $750 with new smx II controler. Just kinda feel like it blew a fuse. Worked perfect when i shut it off the day before. Went to the boat. Turned on breaker and nothing. Was told the dock had a power surge sometime around that time. Ill post pics as soon as i go down

Update. Ac is fixed. After i opened the control box to investigate i noticed 2 glass fuses (T-50) they looked fine but i replaced them and it fixed the problem. 1 of the fuses must have blown. Easy fix and under 2 boat bucks. 2 Fuses are under the purple wire
