AC Charger Help

Well, I never knew those breakers were back there. That will be my first check when I get down this week. Thanks for the pics. I knew you guys had mentioned these breakers but I wasn’t understanding the location. It seems a long shot that they are tripped or had but one never knows. I suppose if the old charger malfunctioned in some way it could have tripped them. The other thing I haven’t wrapped my head around is how the port and starboard banks function /control. It doesn’t seem clear that they are totally separate. My thought was that the port side would allow the port engine to start and would have some associated circuits with it and the starboard side would allow the starboard engine to start and have associated circuits with it. I’m not sure they are that separate.

I sent Promarine an email today, not expecting to hear back for a couple days. I was pleasantly surprised as they got back to me in a couple of hours. They also sent me a troubleshooting guide to test the charger. I will go through the steps you guys described and I will work through Pronautics troubleshooting this weekend. Thanks for the help. Will keep you posted.

Huge shoutout to bobeast and ttmott (pictures were awesome) for the information. Never would have thought there would be breakers behind the breakers. The 2 that go to the stbrd and port batteries were tripped. I reset them an it works like a charm. Much appreciation for everyone’s help.

Now, one more question. I have a battery voltage indicator that is wire from the distribution block for the stereo system so I can keep an eye on the voltage there. I noticed when I am running own the lake and the alternators are charging the voltage will sometimes go up to 15.5 or 15.6. Is this normal or is there an issue that I should be looking into. It just seems high. I notice the charger will show in the 14.5 range an I rea in the pro marine manual that this is normal. Wasn’t sure about over 15 volts. Thanks again for the help.

Yes that is too high and will boil out the batteries; should be no more that 14.7 volts at max charge then 13.2 maintenance charge. Some alternators have a voltage out adjustment (Leese-Neville) else you have an alternator issue. Or, you have an issue with your "indicator".

I would have thought the indicator but I noticed the gauges read basically the same although analog vs. digital. The weird thing is it is intermittent. It doesnt just run up there and stay and it is only when running at speed so rpm’s are higher.
