Hi everyone,

I just purchased a 1996 370 Sundancer. The aft air conditioning unit has a error that pops up once in a while. It says P5. Does anyone know what this is all about? If I press the heat or cool button it will still work but every once in a while it will shut off and give that error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sounds like you're getting the "PS" code for high pressure. In my experience that means there is not enough flow through the raw water circuit, which is often the result of a clogged raw water strainer. You should have a through hull fitting in the hull above the water line, out of which the AC raw water circuit drains overboard. Suggest you check whether you are getting flow there, and also check the strainer to make sure it is clear. This code could also mean the AC raw water circuit has excessive marine growth inside it, in which case you may need to have it cleared out by "descaling" it. That can be DIY but is a fair amount of work and requires some prep and equipment. I'm sure others on here have better knowledge and can provide better insight, but based on what you're saying, and based on the hours I spent in the bilge last year getting my AC system running properly, that's what it sounds like to me. HTH

Thanks for the reply. I have good flow coming out the side of the haul so maybe the second thing you mentioned.
