Absolutely frustrated with this Mercruiser engine

The local haul out facility can’t schedule me for a haul out till late November unless I’m willing to pay a $5000 emergency haul out fee. Trying to find someone who will rent me a trailer instead. The mechanics that I’m able to reach so far all want payment in advance. I may never financially recover from buying a Sea Ray.

Have you talked to your insurance company? They may have someone they work with.

Really 5 grand you buy a trailer for that money. Put something out online for a trailer. Hopefully you will find something. Or if you have space boat hauler company and put it on stands

Paved paradise, put up a parking lot.
I loved her! Had every 8 track!

Hop, you are cursed with boats. In your situation I would bail and find a new hobby. i hate to say but your issues are approching possibilities of surpassing some epic threads.
You are half way thru summer next week and boat broke again. Let it go buddy, not meant to be.
Actually who the fark am i to offer advice. After 2 years of fixing mine its finaly running great and guess what? Every day has been rain or SCA. I barely using it and next 2 weeks going to suck every day. Maybe I’m cursed!

Sorry all I'm just really frustrated with the whole situation and venting here since no one physically here with me who cares. I did not intend to besmirch Sea Ray as I think they are great boats and If I had put more thought into it before typing it is not even Sea Ray parts that have even been the problem for me, it has been the Mercruiser ones only. Sometimes I just get lazy typing on my phone and over simplify what I am trying to say. Anyhow the quotes I'm getting for the repair now are looking like she will be totaled out by insurance. I really like this boat, I hope it can get fixed.

Take a clear look at it :

if insurance really pays and the boat is totaled its the best what can happen to you .
Take the $$$ , look for a nice boat and make sure you never look back . Especially make sure to RUN if somebody offers you a mercruiser powered searay.

I kind of agree. Settle and let go. Find different boat. Would rather See you happy

Unless you're getting into 'over 41 foot' boats, what are the odds that a SeaRay is powered by a Mercruiser powerplant?

There is nothing wrong with Mercruiser and if fact the best gas engine out there. Outdrives on the other hand are notorious for having issues. The happiest boat day was switching from outdrives to straight shafts.

Agree with you first statement. But I'd disagree somewhat with your outdrive statement.

However, I DO agree that in COMPARISON between an outdrive and a straight drive that straights certainly have less things to worry about. But I don't think I'd say that Mercruiser outdrives are really any different than Volvo, for example, when it comes to reliability. Generally speaking, the Merc outdrives are pretty bullet proof - but there's obviously maintenance that has to be done - and certainly more maintenance than a straight setup.

Possibly, but my experience is from the Alpha one generation. But to each his own, I am not an outboard fan either. And look where they went, everywhere now.

I like outdrives. With the Bay as shallow as it is I can get into skinny water that straight drives cant. Ever seen a straight drive boat beached at Jellyfish Joels? Nope.

Not debating the usefulness of outboards/outdrives and from that stand point it can't be argued. I was referring to the maintenance and longevity of the drive.
