A Unique problem

Have never come across this before.
customer just bbought this boat, no water test or history.
Clean, motor is 5.7 b iii MPI, wants to start, engine oil clean, belts good, overall condition is VG, but the problem is

I'll go first - Somebody put oil in the Hx instead of the engine. Oil floats so it will be on top, it may or may not be full of oil. If it isn't that you got bigger issues.

I had a Chev 25000 Duramax and had a very slight amount of oil in the plastic radiator recovery tank. Oil level never seemed to drop and it never got any worse, until one day….one day the radiator recovery tank was overflowing with oil. Oil cooler had a pinhole leak originally that let go. Oil pressure overriding the coolant pressure won out. Replaced the oil cooler, let the system run on a flushing system for hours, new plastic recovery tank, but never got rid of all the oil residue in the system. Never ran hot, temps were good, but could not stand the discolored plastic recover tank……

Oil cooler maybe?

As you know ....it can be a bunch of things. I would start with pressure testing the cooling system. Unless it was accidental.....the oil is being pushed into the cooling system and will show up at the highest point. Hopefully it is something simple......and not a cracked block.

Are you 100% sure it's engine oil? Could it be nasty old dirty power steering fluid?

Final follow up
Oil was placed in the plastic overflow bottle and only the heat exchanger was compromised. Motor was not run so no mixing tool place. No oil in the lower hose to the circ pump. So just a HX cleaning and degrease and were good to go.
