hi all, first let me wish all of you a very safe and joyous holiday season and all the best in the upcoming new year.

as some of you know we bought a '05 320 sundancer, blue hull. the other day the admiral and i are driving down to our slip to clean out/up our old boat and get it ready for the broker to pull.

well here i am tootling down the road when out of the blue (no pun) the admiral says, "well i don't think its true royal blue." huh, what the heck was that all about! i said, "what is not a true royal blue?" she replies, "the hull of our boat."

seems she is already thinking linens and towels and place mats and dishware etc etc! and if you're thinking why does that matter, well to me it doesn't, but ya know there is such a thing as MS correctness, (martha stewart correctness that is)!

so does anyone know the official title of Sea Ray Blue???????

My wife is under the impression that every towel, wash cloth, napkin, plate, etc. has to be embroidered/printed with the boat name. She also sees every one of these items as disposable or give away. I tried to let her know she had gone too far when I arrived at the boat last spring to find that she had my cleaning towels embroidered. She told me that I had spoiled her fun. Ughh.

I think you are being insensitive! She was only trying to make sure your cleaning towels didn't feel discriminated against. Also trying to make sure someone didn't steal you cleaning towels since they will have you boat name on them!

Stan...I don't recall seeing a specific color of blue mentioned on Sea Ray's website. Sounds like you might be making a shopping trip to Branson to buy "stuff" and then you can run by tht boat and see if the stuff matches.

went through that around april. she even bought tan matching pullovers so we could match the towels. it returns to "normal" after about a month.

Not sure if the old Jailbird would agree, but I think Royal blue is brighter than what I consider your dark blue hull as Navy Blue.
Here'svRoyal blue From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"Jump to: navigation, search
Royal blue is any number of shades of blue.

Traditionally, dictionaries define royal blue as a deep to dark blue, often with a purple or faint reddish tinge.

By the mid-20th Century, with the availability of brighter dyes, most people began to think of royal blue as a brighter color, and it was this brighter color that was chosen as the web color. The W3C has designated the keyword "royalblue" to be this much brighter, rather than the traditional darker, color."

you guys are BAD!! I know captains that wish their admirals would join us like ours do.. Being as sensitve to rank as i am(33+ years) she still hold my lines!!

The hull is Blue/Purple...................at least that what it is called on the CSR Board because of the way it changes color in different lighting conditions.:wow::grin:

Since you will never color match accessories to that color, my suggestion would be to take a piece of the canvas (such as the binmini cover) with you and color match everything to that.

Dave, is you're last name Stewart? Is Martha your Wife? You said that like she's standing over your shoulder saying:
Dave S's Wife Martha said:
"Tell them that that color is impossible to match, go with the Fabric"

:smt024

you know I'm giving you a hard time. You can tell it's winter when we're replying to a thread with Martha Stewart in it.:smt021

I think it HAS to match. Would you run Autolite's in one engine or half the engine and Champion or NGK in the other? NO!! Would you have a Volvo outdrive hanging next to a Merc? NO!! Would you have Bias play on one side of the trailer and radials on the other? Well, maybe... :)

So, in those terms, she's just preparing the nest much as you would getting the engine and mechanicals in order. Everytime we move to a new house we have to re-do carpets, paint or window treatments. I think it's similar to lawyers and documents. If you have 100 lawyers write one document (I know it won't happen, but go with me here!) and then turn it over to one more lawyer, he'll make a change. It's like putting their "stamp" on it to show ownership or something. I call it the nesting instinct!

Regarding the color, just agree. That's one battle NOT worth putting the armor on for! :)

jeff looks like we are shooting jan 19 as a closing, yippie!

the admiral just read the thread and guess what she said to me? "i told you there was a difference." ugh. armor on the floor, i'm done with this fight, heading to cooler for a brew!!!!

Skol!
I'll drink to that. That's why our ladies are the Admiral's and the boss, and we're the lowly scrubbers.

Tawcat - I remember when our boat arrived at the dealer from Sea Ray, all she wanted to know was that the throw pillows were in the cabin and the cabin interior color is what we had ordered!

I think there is a rule on the water only enough plates for as many people that will actually need them on the boat. If I wasn't careful. We would have Christmas China on our boat. I tried to explain to the wife that all the additional weight of things that I don't care about is a safety hazard.

got the offical scoop from Sea Ray.

the official name of the color is Midnight Blue by Valspar part #1799711.

there ya have it!
