My Father in law is moving his girlfriend's Daughter across the country. He and his Girlfriend have driven from SanFransico area to Baltimore. Currently he says he's in West VA and I said he needs to go Check out Chesapeake bay
Where are the hot spots on the water he can grab a bite and a beer.
Do they have harbor tours?
Any CSR members sitting on there boats nearby ?

Well... Asking where to go get a bite and a beer on the Chesapeake Bay is like asking where to get a bite and a beer in California. The Bay has 11,684 miles of shoreline and is huge.

Being in Baltimore and if he wants to see a couple of things close by, I would either head down to Annapolis for a day or two and/or head across the Bay Bridge tunnel to the eastern shore for a day or two. Both are fairly close to Baltimore. If he goes to the eastern shore, I would go to Kent Island Narrows for a bite and beer on the water (see my posts on that and is right by the bridge), and even head down to St. Michaels for a day (see my posts on that as well). He can catch a sailboat ride on the water around Annapolis fairly easily. If he had a boat, I would tell him to hit Rock Hall (see my posts on that) but there is not a quick way to get there from Baltimore. It's very quick by boat though.

He should know that Balitmore is not what we all think of when we think of the Chesapeake Bay. The inner harbor is neat there but is "big city".

That area is just one section of the bay though... the southern part of the bay is so big you can't see land from one side to the other and there are literally hundreds of towns to visit on the whole bay. I think I even did a post here on spending a month on just the northern part of the bay. ;-)

Gary,
Thanks, I'll re-read your trip's post and look for a couple joints. Never been there and only seeing it by map, I forget how big it is

I think St Michaels gives you a good tast of the Chesapeake w/out the big city atmosphere of Baltimore, and it's not that far from Baltimore or Annapolis by car. Go to the Crab Claw for food and drinks.

Mmmmmm.... the Crab Claw....

Don’t forget the bikini contest at “Red Eyes†dock bar on Kent Island. Although, you should know they now import some of the “talent†for the contest – they are not all local women.

I was "trying" to say Red Eyes by saying "Kent Island Narrows"...

but... You had to go talk bikinis...

so...

Mmmmm..... Red Eyes.....

Did someone say Crab Claw? We ate there last night and this is my view this morning:

That must be your "soaring-above-the-sea vibe starts on the raised-bridge deck, where clear sightlines stretch in any direction" thing you are experiencing.

Nice sunrise shot over the St. Michaels harbor.. I think I changed an impeller out there about a month ago.

After a quick stop in RH to change passangers, now we're in Annapolis where there is quite the Sea Ray convention cooking!

OK, so this is "off topic" but Todd, I hope this gives you a sense of the options!
