Looking for a good aftermarket alternator for SeaRay 1990 270 Sundancer 454 7.4 300hp

Does anyone have experience with EMS Global Alternators?

Thanks,

Martin

Try www.ebasicpower.com they have a fairly good selection of alternators that will work for your engine. I've purchased from them in the past and their pricing is competitive on most items.

just make sure whatever brand of electronics you install on your engine are 'marine' rated.....this means they will be ignition protected and not emit sparks which could cause an explosion in the engine compartment if gas fumes are present.....

there are some automotive alternative parts that can be safely used on a boat, but if you are not sure which ones are safe or not my suggestion would be to just pay the little extra cost and get the 'marine' parts....

personally i always use 'marine' parts just to be safe....i once had around 10 gallons of raw fuel floating around in my bilge without my knowledge due to a leak in my fuel tank.....when i discovered the fuel it was one of those 'oh sh!t' moments since the engine was running at that time....i am glad i made the decision a long time ago to only use marine ignition proof electronics or else my wife and i could have been a story in the local paper about a boat explosion....

fuel leaks can and do happen....don't tempt fate.....
