A Few Questions For Those Who Slip Their Boat....

Our marina was just repurchased by the county after 25 year contract with developer. The marina was managed by Skipper Bud's, now we have Edgewater from MI that started 2 weeks ago. All services (store, restaurant, fuel dock, gas dock) are being subcontracted to new vendors. So, all will be new this year.

County stated they want to make this 950 slip marina the premier place on Lake Michigan, hope they have lots of $$$. They are not bonding as of yet, so we will wait and see.

Gofirstclass, Since you started the thread i was curious if you have derived any conclusions from the posts?
I didn't start this thread to get any conclusions from it. It was done just to see where others are slipping their boat, what size their slip is, what amenities come with it and what they're paying.

The only real big thing that jumped out at me is that I have one helluva deal on my moorage. We don't have a lot of amenities (restrooms with showers, fuel and pumpout nearby, water comes with the slip, the facility is only 5 years old, and there's a great bar and restaurant at the top of the docks.). There aren't any parks, playground equipment, picnic areas, etc. for families to use, but we don't have a lot of families bringing kids down to the docks. There are several concerts every summer on the island where my boat is slipped so if we want, we can just pull out of the slip and drop the hook to listen to the music. We've done that a few times and enjoyed it. The people on our dock are pretty nice and there's a group that parties every weekend but shuts down the noise around 9:00-9:30 so they don't bother anyone.

It's just interesting to hear about what others enjoy about their marina facilities.

I agree, I've found much of the info interesting. I'd love to have a restaurant/bar AT our marina!! Although we do have a dozen of them a very short dinghy ride away, which is our method of transport once we get to the dock for the weekend. The car never leaves til we head home!! Thanks for starting the thread and for the great info everyone!!

Thank you for starting the thread also, the one line I made sure to read on all responses was the "what keeps you at this marina". Based on the responses all marina's should have good service, prompt response with issues and cleaning and offer convinience to added amenities. Personally I know I don't have the most luxurious marina on my lake however I always notice how friendly people are both the workers and fellow boaters. And a clean bathroom and shower make my wife very happy!
