A significant part of the cost of owning a "bigger" boat is the cost of the slip. I'm just curious about what you all pay for your slips. Here are a few questions for you to answer if you don't mind....

What city/town is your slip in/near?
Is your slip part of a yacht club?
Is your slip covered?
Do you leave your boat in the slip all year or haul in the winter?
What is your basic monthly slip rental fee?
How large is your slip?
Does that slip rental fee include power and water?
Do you have 30Amp power? 50Amp power? 100Amp power?
What shoreside facilities does your marina have (showers, bathrooms, picnic facilities, etc.)?
How old is your marina?
Are the docks floating or fixed?
Are the docks wood or concrete?
Is there adequate parking?
Are the facililties kept clean and well maintained?

What is the main draw that keeps you at THAT marina?

How eager is your marina management to address issues that might come up?
Are you allowed to do DIY work on your boat?
Do they allow outside contractors to work on your boat?
Do they charge a fee for that?
How far is it to a fuel dock?
How far is it to a pumpout dock?

Any other comments about your marina?

Thanks,

GFC

not much applies to your questions for us;

we slip the 310 in the national recreation areas at mead, powell, and flaming gorge. not all at the same time.

covered are $650 at mead and powell. no covered at F G, freezes over there so only a 6 month season. open slips are around $400. all rates by the month

all floating docks with power and water on dock. pump outs at all and gas available at all.

This sounds all too familiar! New renters are quoted $5.75 ft..

Under any 'other comments'... well I'm torn between hoping someone will buy the place so we aren't basically taking care of it ourselves vs. what I know will be a significant price increase and how well we like the calm, quiet and few good neighbors we have.

Middle of marina. This would be my only complaint as it is hard to get into. Wished it was at the refueling dock.

We get a LOT of trash from the river such as logs and wood. The marinia is very slow at removing this trash. I am less affected because I have an inside dock, but the folks at both ends of the marina get it bad. Some have put a 6" PVC pipe across the slip and this helps a lot.

ALASKA, Whittier:

Waiting list is at least 14 years @ $40 a year to be on list. Hint why I have a trailer and 30' boat.

Any other comments about your marina? They still have some gravel parking and it really pisses me off! I wish they'd asphalt it all. Also, we have a 350' cruise/steam ship 100' from our dock that is owned by our marina. It has been open since 1967 doing tours. They just sold it and are dredging all around us to get it out, tugging it to Canada. I've been taking pics and will be following the ship out of port when it leaves in June. Should be a pretty cool sight!!

Thanks,

A significant part of the cost of owning a "bigger" boat is the cost of the slip. I'm just curious about what you all pay for your slips. Here are a few questions for you to answer if you don't mind....

What is your basic monthly slip rental fee? $220
How large is your slip? $20' x 60'
Does that slip rental fee include power and water? Water is included, power is metered for each slip
Do you have 30Amp power? 50Amp power? 100Amp power? Most of the slips have 120V 30A. For mine they installed 240V 30A and 50A.

What is the main draw that keeps you at THAT marina? The price is definitely right. The marina is part of the Port of Kennewick and by law they have to price it according to the local charges for similar slips.

How eager is your marina management to address issues that might come up? They do an excellent job of taking care of any problems
Are you allowed to do DIY work on your boat? Yes. They have a trailer than can pull out boats up to 40,000 lbs and an unsecured yard where you can work on it

How far is it to a fuel dock? 50 yards to the fuel dock
How far is it to a pumpout dock? 50 yards to the pumpout station
Any other comments about your marina? The marina staff has been great to work with. There's a brewery/restaurant right at the top of the docks and it's a great place to stop after a day on the water. The side of the dock we're on doesn't have to go down a fairway to get out and there's only a short no-wake zone to pass through.

Do they charge a fee for that? Yes, a percentage of the total bill from the contractor
How far is it to a fuel dock? In the marina (although managed by a separate entity and they have already run out of gas 3 times this season)
How far is it to a pumpout dock? Same as gas dock - owned by separate entity and does have a pumpout service. Plan on staying at least an hour.

Any other comments about your marina?
The only reason I stay at the marina I'm at is convenience - close to home and work, and for my friends that I have made across the years. I do have a good working relationsihp with the marina office and management staff. Having stayed at other marinas, I feel that we don't get as much bang for the buck.

A significant part of the cost of owning a "bigger" boat is the cost of the slip. I'm just curious about what you all pay for your slips. Here are a few questions for you to answer if you don't mind....

What city/town is your slip in/near? Marina del Rey, CA
Is your slip part of a yacht club? No
Is your slip covered? No
Do you leave your boat in the slip all year or haul in the winter? Year Round
What is your basic monthly slip rental fee? $600
How large is your slip? 40 foot
Does that slip rental fee include power and water? Yes
Do you have 30Amp power? 50Amp power? 100Amp power? 50
What shoreside facilities does your marina have (showers, bathrooms, picnic facilities, etc.)? Bathrooms, showers, lounge. Wish it had an ice machine and wifi
How old is your marina? Old
Are the docks floating or fixed? Floating
Are the docks wood or concrete? Wood
Is there adequate parking? Yes and it is underground/covered
Are the facililties kept clean and well maintained? Fairly well maintained

What is the main draw that keeps you at THAT marina? Location to Venice (walking distance), underground/covered parking, cost is cheaper than many other marinas in the area

How eager is your marina management to address issues that might come up? No issues
Are you allowed to do DIY work on your boat? change oil, filters, etc. yes. Major work, no.
Do they allow outside contractors to work on your boat? I have not had an issue with this, but never asked
