Hey guys,

Where is the best place to buy a replacement A/C strainer basket? Here is what I got from the manual:

STRAINER, BRZ WATER INTAKE 3/4" SPECIAL #5937

Currently its a white plastic mesh, its all broken apart so I need a new one. Is that factory or is the original metal?

Also,

I have a shells inside the strainer. Is it ok to pour diluted acid inside of it?

I am sure there is a source online somewhere. Last one I bought I just went to a parts counter at a Marine Max that was nearby.

To get the inside cleaned, I bent a small straight blade screw driver. Then I use a shop vac to suck it all out.

Go to Boat Owners Warehouse "BOW" in Ft. Lauderdale or Pompano if it's closer. They have them in stock and have good prices.

You first need to determine if you have a Groco or a Perko strainer.

I suspect you have a Perko (2 opposing slotted ears that are secured with bolts and wing nuts on top). It seems like I recall Perko making a special strainer basket for Sea Ray that was shorter than normal for use on some models with limited access. Both Perko and Groko baskets are available all over the internet, so let your fingers do the work and Google it.

Thanks guys. There is very LITTLE room down there to scrape the inside of the strainer. I've heard using diluted acid which turns the shells to powder. It's hard enough to pull the darn basket out. I've searched online and saw a few different options. The plastic one I have now does not have any top/handle to it like I've seen some have.
