My 270 Sundancer finally launched today after a long winter. While I was inspecting it, I noticed the bilge pump running an awful lot. Well it turns out there was a steady stream of water coming out of the side of the raw water pump for the air conditioner. It looks like the plastic cracked due to freezing. Obviously I closed the seacock immediately.
The leak is where the pump cooling lines connect. I see I can replace just the wet end for probably around $160, or I can do the whole pump for $300. Since I believe this is the original 1998 pump I'm leaning towards replacing the entire thing. Any advice?
And, how certain should I be that my storage guy let me down on winterization? Is this definitely due to his mistake, or could it just have been the pump's time to go?
Here's a photo of the leak. Pretty scary thing to see in your bilge.
