Greetings

We are moving to Bradenton Fl. and my 340 will be on a lift. How do I keep the A/C water-pump from draining its water causing a vapor lock and a prime ?

In June or July I will be taking the Mississippi River and Tenn-Tom waterway to Mobile Al. and then the ICW to Bradenton. More questions will follow concerning that trip.

Thank you

My 260 never lost its prime on a lift. If it does just stick a hose in the water outlet with the a/c on and it will start working.

As soon as u get the boat on plane turn the a.c. on and it will prime itself. Or as said above put a hose to the outlet turn the hose on for a couple seconds and that will prime your system

agree with above. Just run boat for a minute on the water and it will force the water into the system priming it for you.

I close the seacock before boat is lifted out of the water. I am considering putting a hose with a loop to keep from getting an air pocket and not having to close the seacock every time.

Thank You
I did not try that with my 260 which was kept on a lift and drained every time it was raised. It wasn't that hard to get in the ER to the seacock, but this is a 340 with 8.1s. I would like to stay out of the ER even with a pole. Force priming while underway is a great solution I had not thought of.
Thanks Everyone

You can use a shop vac as well. Put the suction hose on the water outlet of the AC. Turn on the AC and the shop vac. The suction will prime it as well. I keep my boat on a lift and it will lose prime every time you lift the boat out of the water.

Be careful. You may do more harm than good. The water flow has to be a constant uphill. If the loop goes over an uphill point you may defeat that purpose. If you have a difficult time reaching the thru hull, and getting on plane doesn't do it for you, you may be better off putting a "T" in the line after the pump and putting a bleeder valve in it at a height you can easily reach.
