I am planning an A/C retrofit on my 01 260 Sundancer. Can anyone tell me where the factory A/C unit is installed? From photos online, I'm thinking behind the foot wall in the aft cabin. I've noticed an access door there that is not on my boat. To the left of the return vent.

Anyone that can post photos of the location and of the A/C unit would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen that, but photos I've seen online doesn't show the A/C unit under the cushions like that manual shows.

That's where it is on mine. Sorry, we're still shrink-wrapped, so I can't get any pictures.

On my 2003 the AC unit is mounted in the mid cabin behind that door with the air return cut in and the pump in the Engine Room. Let me know if you want pictures.

Thanks, that's what I've gathered. Yes, pictures would be great! I'm especially curious how it looks once you open that door since I don't have the door and would need to cut it out. Water pump and seacock location photos would be a plus. Thanks again.

Take a look in your owner's manual (download it if you need to). There are diagrams of where everything is located for the entire A/C system, including thru-hull/seacock. BUT, keep in mind that you can put things wherever it makes sense for you. Sometimes what makes sense during manufacturing, does not always make the most sense after the boat is completely together. Meaning, the compressor can be located somewhere else, same as with the thru-hull. There is no "one best" place. Do what works best for you.

The access door isn't much help anyway. You have to remove both the forward wall and foot wall in the aft cabin to have any real
access to the A/C unit. I had to do just that to have the high pressure switch replaced on my A/C. While the foot wall was out, I cut another access door to the right of the factory one so there is now access to every part of the unit without having to remove the walls. If you do remove the foot wall for your project, you could then fabricate your own access door to the new unit.
