I've got a '98 190 BR w/4.3L Mercruiser. I have just recently rebuilt the engine. When I started the engine to break it in there was an alarm that sounded. It was buzzing as soon as I turned the ignition key on. Once the engine started it normally would shut off. It did not at this time. After about 20 minutes of break in the peizo started to sound funny and finally faded out. Now it never makes a sound. There are two piezo's located under the dash. One is wired into the wiring as per the manual's diagram the other is wired to the depth gauge. Neither one works. As
I have run aground once with no depth alarm sounding. But that's another story. Did this boat come stock with a depth gauge? There are no markings on it for any identification. I have checked all the fluids when I was ready to start the engine for its break in and the fluids are still ok. So I have two alarms that don't work.

Are the three alarm sensors hooked back up (Oil psi, water temp, drive lube bottle)?

You could try jumping 12v directly to the piezo's to see if they are working.

The depth finder could be original.

You have to set the depthfinder's alarm manually for the alarm to sound.

If it's original who made it and what model? I have seen this very model on other 190's listed on the internet but nobody can tell me who made it or a model #.

Probably Lowrance 3500.

Sea Ray always used a thru-hull transducer. If the transducer is transom mounted, it's installed after the factory. More often than not, an owner of a bowrider isn't going to drill through the bottom of his/her boat.

Installed after the the boat came from the factory. Nothing wrong with that, though. "Tempo" is the brand.

FYI: The entire, vertical "back side" of your boat (where the engine and the transducer are mounted) is called the transom. So, the transducer is mounted at the bottom of the transom, and the wire goes through near the top of the transom?

The only real downsides to a transducer mounted in this fashion (as opposed to thru-hull) is you need to make sure it is positioned correctly. The bottom edge of the transducer should be parallel with the hull bottom. If it was installed in the correct place, the bottom of the transducer will stick slightly below the hull bottom and it will get "clean" water as the boat moves.

Did you try Google? Try tempo + boats, or tempo + marine -- something like that.

Is the other problem solved?

No. I still have the other problem with the engine sounder not working. The wires are connected correctly. I think I burnt out the piezo. They aren't meant to sound for long periods of time. Mine sounded for a good 30 mintues then faded out.
