Someone I know has a lead on an express bridge that may be a good deal.Is there anything about this model that should be noted(good/bad)? Of course full survey etc..But are there any major problems with this model that are common?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Since we all don't know the "Someone",, perhaps all of/or some the boat's particulars would be helpful....
year
modle
power (engine/drives)
any available options

It's a 1997 44 EB..3116 Cats 1100 hrs...Onan 8Kw 1750 hrs...Newer canvas...
When searching it seems that th EB's are priced lower then the DA's(45)..asking price..That's what makes me wonder if the lower value has anything to do with possible problems with this model..personally I think it's alot of boat for the $'s..and would consider one myself..

They are a lot of boat. The EB design has been very popular for that reason.

I don't thnk there are any particular design or contruction problems that are systemic to the EB's. As with any older big boat the buyer must do his own due diligenct and have both hull surveys and mechanical surveys done before writing any checks. The hull survey should include taking moisture readings anywehre the core has been penetrated for anything......thru hulls, windlass mount, windshield, rail stanchions, etc. and the mechanical survey should be done by a Caterpillar dealer who has access to the Cat service records so the service history can be checked.

The EB's have one annoying (at least to me) design characteristic. The side decks are so narrow tha you need both hands on hand rails to transit from the cockpit to the forward deck. Is it not always convienent to enter the bridge and climb down the front of the cabin to access lines etc on the front deck, particularly when time is important. If the bridge canvas is closed and you need to add a line or adjust one, for example, it is a royal pain to unsnap the canvas on both front and rear just to get to the deck with the extra line.
