97 240 Sundeck Polish & Wax or Polymer Coat

Hello Everyone,
I'm an old Sea Ray owner (91 270DA) that is looking at a 98 240 Sundeck. For the most part it seems to be in good shape but it's been awhile since the hull has seen any amount of care. The tan finish with brown accent graphics is dull and faded. Any opinions on the best way to bring the lust back, either polish buff and wax or a co-polymer coating? Also does acid washing the bottom of the hull really eliminate the brown water stains? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome cyc boater...There are countless threads on here regarding the topic you are asking about. Try using the search function and reading through some of the information there.
Having said that, from the description, my guess is that you would need to throughly clean the hull and then compound before any polish or wax is applied.

I use the Starbright or Attwood Hull cleaner that Wal Mart sells. Put it in a spray bottle spray the spots and let it sit a couple minutes and hose off. Totally removes the brown water spots.

Thanks for the replies. After I posted this thread, I found the wax vs. polymer thread and tips on cleaning the bottom of the hall. Coming from the Great Lakes I'm use to painting the bottom every spring but down here in S.C. the use of bottom paint even for slipped boats is not that prevalent. The Sea Ray I'm looking at has always been slipped and never painted. Any of you Southern inland lake boaters tell me why because I'm still debating with myself whether to paint or acid wash.

Polishing will restore the shine, the wax or polymer is the protection coat that goes on after you restore the finish with the polish.
Muriatic Acid will remove the brown stains along the waterline, but use it carefully and keep the hose handy for the quik rinse.
