96 450 sundancer for auction.

The question and answers at the bottom are entertaining.

But, it actually looks like a fairly nice boat, probably kept in a covered slip on a lake, has been kept updated with carpeting and new refrigerator and freezer, but that is the worst fitting canvas job I've seen in a long time.

As far as the engine not having been run in a long while, I bought a Case backhoe a few years ago that had turned over while digging on the side of a dirt pit. It had layed there on its side from 2005 to 2010. I took another backhoe out there, and dug a ramp down to it, turned it over, hooked a chain to it and drug it up the ramp and out of the pit. We went to town, got a new battery, put it in the backhoe and it turned over about twice and fired right up......smoked like crazy, smelled to high heaven, but I idled it up to about 1500 rpm to let it settle down and warm up, then drove it home.

Somebody's gonna get a decent boat for low $$...........I'd be interested but I already have one.

Yeah the canvas is painful to look at.

Frank, this thing is over in Gallatin right now. Was toying with heading over to take a look.

You should……..the 450 is a great boat. There is decent demand for them, but the auction minimum is pretty high for a boat with so many unknowns. With the 3116 Caterpillars, the risk for ignored or deferred maintenance carries a fairly low price tag, in fact a pair of 7.4 Mercs would probably cost more to get running after being ignored for several years.

The auction says the boat can be viewed on Tuesdays during the auction. I can't go this Tuesday but will be in Shelbyville next week and might be available to go see the boat with you then if you see it and are interested. Ive owned a 1996 450DA since 1997 and know them very well. PM me if you want to pursue it.

OK guys, this is working out to be an interesting field trip. I hope if you look at it that you'll come back to us and post your findings.

Frank, I would love to go look at it with you. The unfortunate thing is I will be in Grand Rapids that day and heading to Chicago the next morning. 21 days left on the auction, maybe we can do it at a later date.

Did anyone ever go look at this boat?

I haven't yet. Been out of town and first opportunity would be next week if they are available with the holiday.
