96 45 SD Diff between 3208ta and 3116 cats

I am looking at an 1996 Sundancer 45 with Cat 3208TA engines with 750 hours. I am also looking at a 1998 Sundancer 40 with Cat 3116 engines with 1250 hrs. What is the difference between the two beside obvious hp. and whick is the better longer lasting engine or are they simular.

You can't compare these two boats ....the 450 is a much larger size of the same boat/layout. Both engines are good,and the 500 hour difference is no big deal if they were properly maintained. I'd rather have more hours n a better maintained engine. Engines: better...longer lasting....they bothare good in particular hp ratings. Example is the 3208 is awesome at 375 hp, but a problem at higher hp like 425 to 450. The 3116 is awesome at 350.

Do a search on this site, all of these engines have been discussed in great detail. I have never heard of a 450DA with 3208's before. Learn something new everyday. Great boat. I really like mine. Good luck, JC

At which HP for the engines? Some 3116 blocks can be troublesome.
