92 BR 200 Gas Cap Chain

i've got the chain.. it's the deep shaft down the gas canal that i need to reattach the chain to...

Got a boat with a similar issue. I' m just real careful with it. Looks to be more trouble than it's worth trying to reattach.

Concerning that gas cap area...has anyone ever replaced that black gasket around the opening? Mine is brittle and falling apart. Looks like an easy job. I have a 98' Bowrider 210..

be careful... i went and unscrewed the 3 screws around the gas cap not knowing there was 3 lock nuts on other side... I broke one of them and had to gain access thru the engine area... so... I cut into the gas line thinking it would be easy to take out gas cap sleeve and fix separately... nope... gas line was metal inside too... so now i have to replace the whole gas line... something so simple to fix and it has become a nightmare.. what bozo thought of the chain in the gas tank channel? Any ideas on where i can get another gas tank line from filler cap to gas tank?

The chains are more trouble than they are worth. Live without it. Just be careful when you fuel. Place the cap on the floor of the boat when fueling so you do don't drop it in the water. SR replaced chains with thin stainless wire cables in later models. Much better than the chains because the gas nozzles do not get caught.

I have only lost one gas cap. When I was newly into boating I let the dock boy fill the boat up. He jammed the nozzle into the fill tube. Then he yanked the nozzle out when done filling the tank. Broke the chain off and the cap flew into the water. Moral of the story: do your own fueling. Place gas caps on the floor where they can not be kicked into the water. Once you try to buy a replacement cap on a Saturday afternoon, you will discover the available caps at any store that may be open do not fit your boat. Invariably it will begin to rain when the mishap occurs. See the moral of the story again.

What he just said...the chain is a failure point..

Snaking that new line isn't going to be fun. Look on ebay or amazon
