Bought our Sundancer at the end of last season (stays in water). I realized that the prop was junk and needed to replace it. All signs pointed to the '91 is with a Bravo 2 outdrive so I hunted for a prop in the 17.75X23 range. I bought the prop and pulled the boat into shallow water to find a Bravo 1 type prop. After cleaning the old prop up enough, I find that it is a 15X17. So my obvious question... Were there any Bravo 1's on the '91 da's? I'm calling Sea Ray tomorrow, but thought someone would have some insight.

The Bravo I is not listed on the spec sheet for the 91 270. But, it was available in 1990. Maybe you have an early 91 model that still came with the Bravo I.

Also, it's possible that someone installed a standard diameter prop onto your larger Bravo II drive. Measure the distance from the propshaft center to the cavitation plate --- If its only about 8.5", you have a Bravo I. If its about 10.5", you have a Bravo II. If you do actually have a Bravo I drive, I suggest a Mercury Mirage Plus prop, or the Thunderbolt, which is the budget version.

Edit --- since your damaged prop has only 17" pitch, you probably do have a Bravo I drive. 17" pitch is a reasonable match with the Bravo I gear ratio of 1.5. A 17" pitch prop is very unlikely on a Bravo II, since the Bravo II gear ratio is much higher numerically.

Thanks Eric. I think we've got it figured out. It's looking like my '91 has the Bravo 1. I took the new prop back (Took the old one with me) and Harbortowne Marine happen to have the prop I now need in 19 pitch (Aluminum). Then he remembered that he had a Mirage 19. After a bit of "negotiating", I walked out with both. Since the prop that came off was in such bad shape, I'm in doubt that it could be repaired. I'm hoping (Big Time) that she can handle the 19 pitch. With that, I should be ready to cruise.

Thanks again for the responses, I appreciate it. Oh, and a shout out to Harbortowne Marine. Tony really spent the time to help with this situation. Good guy and the owner..
