$9-10k for a stereo system??? Woa, wasn't prepared for that quote

Took some shopping and calling around but ultimately got the best prices for things through my local West Marine. They honored a lower JL price in their system and not the higher website price, was able to tack on a port marine account discount, etc., and managed to do OK with my system. Yup, couldn't resist the M6 6.5s for what turned out to be less than 425/pr, nice discount on all the other stuff as well. They are calling around looking for the 2 10" subs for me and absolutely can not get the amps I wanted. So all in all I had to pay the full price for the 2 amps. Not too bad if you ask me.

Best part of all of this is when I went to pick up my Axiom 12 which they said they were able to get, they gave me an Axiom Pro at the same price because they couldn't get the Axiom. Things like that keep me coming back to West Marine. Maybe its this particular location but everyone there is awesome, has been there 5+ years and really knows their stuff.

Clearly people are significantly bigger audiophiles than I.

$150 for a new Kenwood stereo (Bluetooth, etc etc)
$85 per pair of Kenwood marine speakers
No need for an amp with the music and volume I use and have no interest in forcing others to enjoy.

Clearly I am missing the gene that requires $thousands to enjoy music.

Whats the humidity level down there? This leads to more amp failures then direct water ever does. Even worse when the amps are fan cooled. Now you have forced humid air passing across the PCB.

Good point, wouldn’t think it would fly in the south. We keep it in check, household size dehumidifier when I’m not there and the AC runs when we are. Try to maintain 40% or so max during our “summer months” which is really only July and august in western NY. The rest of the season is pretty dry

So what did you end up spending on everything through West Marine? Are you going to do the installation yourself? I recently picked up a new Fusion RA210, four Fusion 6.5" speakers and three of their remotes to finish up my system (I already had two amps, a nice 10" sub and other 6.5 speakers). I didn't even consider West Marine when I was shopping, thinking they would be over priced. I didn't know they price matched. A little too late now, but again I learned something new on CSR. :)
