I have 2 Sea Doo PWC's
Engines
Twin 7.4
I picked up my new to me boat yesterday(Sunday). I was a 3.5 hour drive there and a 4 hour drive home. The PO was very good at answering all my question and went over everything he could think of. The deliver took 3 hrs. I diid sea test it again and was very happy with the performance. Your right Chris! Engine was cold and one turn of the key and it came to life. We were out in some good size rollers on Lake Michigan and the boat handled well. When I got home I sanded a small portion of the gell coat to see if i could get the shine back and as yo can see I came out beatiful! The PO used some type of poly wax from West Marine. The build up is horrendous! So i need to sand every surface he applied it to. I plan a doing a video of the boats before and after pics and I''ll post it up. i won't get to do much this week. I have a split rail fence to finish and our new pool liner is being installed next week. So I need to do some prep work on that.

more pics of the gelcoat.

He probably put PolyGlo on it - They make a remover for that, It would save you lots of time.

Nice looking boat.

Thanks! it was Poli Glow. I need to get that stuff off. I'll look for the remover.

Go on the website, It removes it very quick & easy. Basically wasn the boat with it & hose it off. Boat looks great where you cleaned it up. I had a 86 Seville 210MC that same color and it looked great but it fades quick if stored outdoors, Need to keep polishing it.

Congratulations Olds. We finally got to use ours on Sunday too, but like you we are going to be too busy to use it again for a couple of weeks. Can't wait. At least we live right by the lake. How does your wife like it?

Chris Nowell, I never told her about it. I got up sunday morning and left to go get it. She has never said one way or the other. I like it that's what counts. She'll like it when we are out on the lake and she is laying on the sun pad.

I continue to sand the PoliGlo off. It's labor intensive but the gelcoat will look great when I'm done. I was reading about this stuff on one of the sailing forums and not to many people like it. I text the PO and told him to throw what he has in the trash! Not to use it on his new boat!

Brave man!
Nothing new for me! I have brought home many things that I have never told her about. Like guitars, jet ski's, cars ect. A couple years ago my brother called me and asked if I wanted to go to Key West, a few days later I was there! It's just my nature to do things like that! Although, this was different because she shot down the 280 Sundacer i wanted. She knew I was looking. I didn't want to giver her the chance to shoot this one down!

I purchased 2 cans of Poli Strip to remove the Poli glo and I didn't have a whole lot of success! I think the PO put so much of the crap on that I would need a gallon of stripper. Needless to say I'm still sanding.

Man, When I used it on my 86 the stuff came right off. Good luck man.

I bought some concentrated heavy duty floor stripper at HD. I'm gonna give it a try. If I can get the top coat of this Poli Glo off it will be a lot easier to sand. I'm burning through sand paper.

I have not been able to get a whole lot of time in on my boat, but I have removed all the poli glo. My honey do list is very long. Here are a couple shot of the bow befor and after sanding. I had just washed the boat after removing the poli glo, so the shine you see is a wet boat. I did get one pass with my buffer down the starboard side and as you can see it's looking better. It strted to rain on me so I had to stop buffing. I also painted one of the vent.

Nice Sorrento ! Best of luck with it .

I just tried rubbing out a small area on our 230 with 400 wet dry, followed by rubbing compound and them polish and wax. I can still see some of the oxidization through the shine in some spots and I'd like it to have a deeper luster than it does. What kind of abrasive did you use on yours?

I started at 400, 600, 800, 1000. Next spring I will hit it with 1200. At this point, I want it in the water. I bought a product called Buff Magic. It works really well. Look for the videos on You Tube. That poli glo is a pain to get off if it's not applied correctly. I just used 1000 on the bow deck. Even after 1000 grit on the sides I can still see some sanding scratches. It's going to take several passes with a good buffer and a good pad. I'm using a yellow cutting pad. I'll finish with a foam polishing pad and a good wax. I'm still reading about waxes.

I'm almost done with my sorrento. I need to buff above the rub rail and apply some pro polish. The hull is done and it came out really nice. Finding time the last two weeks to work on my boat has been tuff. I've been replacing 150 ft of split rail. I got to a point where I could stop and then I had to start doing some repair on our in ground pool so the new liner can be installed this week. The pool work should be done today and hopefully I can get a couple of hours with the buffer. Boat name and registration numbers should be done by mid week. I would like to get her to my dock this week. Then it's back to finishing the split rail fencing.
