'87 23' Sorrento prop recommendations

I just purchased an 87 23ft Sorrento with a 260 hp Merc. It's got thru transom exhaust and it sounds awesome. The prop on it is pretty bad, and the marina that sold it to me said we'd experiment with props till we got it dialed in. Currently, it won't go over 3900 rpm and takes forever to get out of the hole. I'm lookin for top speed and hope this could be a 45mph boat. Anyone got any ideas?

I would try a 16 x 16 or 15.5 x 17.

My last boat was a '86 Sorrento S23. I live in Colorado so the altitude is probably different for you and that DOES make a difference. I wanted speed too. If that’s what you want, you sacrifice getting out of the hole quicker. My best speed was 55 mph with a 21 pitch prop at about 4500 ft. Hope that helps

I currently have a 87 Sea Ray Sorrento 23 with a 260HP. I currently have a 15 x 19 pitch stainless steel prop. The boat jumps out of the hole and runs right at 50mph. Altitude wise I am in Nebraska.
