Hello CSRers,

I'm thinking of relocating the radio/stereo from the cabin to the deck. Has anyone found a suitable location up top? I know there are arguments to leave it were it is, but I would love to have it closer to the cockpit were it is more accessible when it is just my wife and I on the boat.

Thanks!

I'd think "remote control" I had a Rinker 250 Siesta Vee before my SeaRay. I bought a nice Kenwood head unit that had a wireless remote. It worked fine fromm the captians chair, as the stereo was just inside the cabin, paast the head. A little more costly would be a new head end with Wired remote. I'm doing that on my flybridge, as the stereo will be in the main cabin with the remote on the flybridge. You will get a little more protection from the elements with the radio "inside"

Just my $.02

I agree with Fxsales, I installed a Sony i bought from walmart for less than a hundrend bucks with wireless remote, Put it right inside the cabin in viewing range. Works great.

The unit i installed also had aux. input that i could run my dvd player through.

Thanks guys! I will go with a remote. Took her for the first run yesterday. Radio needs to be loud over the engine noise while up on plane and then it's too loud when running at No Wake. I can't keep going back and fourth from deck to cabin... still trying to steer the boat. :)

Thanks again for your help!

I moved the stereo to just inside the cabin door. As you pass the cabin door on the left is a long door. This compartment has a shelf. I installed the stereo above the long door. It's in direct sight and easily controlled with a remote. However, it's a little shallow so I used a mount for a 1995 chevy s10 which allows for a deeper stereo. The closer to the door (the lower) you mount the unit the more mounting depth you have. Works great! In fact I mounted to amps inside the long compartment, but I need to vent it because the amps get too hot.

You guys that changed out the head units.... Do you have the speaker wire coloring codes? I wanna upgrade mine but have no idea what color goes to what speaker wire on the new harness

No the wires on the old audiovox unit.... I need to know which wires on it go to the corresponding colors you just posted. The wires on the audiovox unit are blue, green, yellow, white, and two others I cannot recall off the top of my head
