I bought this boat about 5 years ago. Enjoyed a couple seasons on it and then put it up for storage since I had been moving around and had no time for it. Needless to say, 3 years of outside storage with a cover caused some rot on the interior wood seats and gunwale/upholstry.

I'm replacing all the interior wood and switch the colors from maroon and white to navy blue and light gray. I've also started replacing and rewiring the helm and all accessories. I just got two new bilges, 2 new 6-rocker panel switches, repainted the wipers and installed new blades and I'll be adding a new stereo.

Here's the outside with stripes and then stripes removed using a pinstripe removal wheel attached to a drill. I have yet to wash the boat until I'm ready to get her wet. I'll use a heavy compound, restripe it blue and gray, then light polishing compound and wax.

Welcome!

It's always nice to have another classic AJ on the board. Looks like you have a good start on your project!

Nice to see another classic being brought back to life.

Thanks guys. I'll be posting up some more pics in a few weeks. I'm in no rush to do this interior rebuild. I just got my new gray vinyl in. I have all the vinyl and foam backing to start covering the wood. I need to do 1 more test fit before throwing vinyl on them.

I'm working on the tune up of the motor. I've changed the oil, plugs, fuel/water filter and fix some of the poor engine wires. I need to put on the new water impeller, new distributor, new plug wires.

I've started fixing the existing wiring under the helm. So many different hack jobs by the previous owners that I was amazed something didn't go wrong sooner. I'm going to add all LED lighting to the deck, fixed the wipers and re-painted them, now I just need new blades. Not sure if I'll use them. Need to fix my spot light and horn still. Lots to do but I have time until the spring.

Got some time today to upholster a couple items. The stern panel is light gray and I layed the shelf behind it which is navy blue. I'll be test fiting the 4 gunwale wood pieces before I throw padding/vinyl on them. I'm thinking of getting some gel coat the light gray color and paint the floor and up to the gunwale that color. Not sure yet.

Looks great! I had a company do my interior last summer. It turned out very nice but it took them forever!!! Glad to see another AJ owner here! I didn't realize there were this many older AJ owners on CSR.

My hat is off to all you guys that tackle these kind of jobs. Makes the little things that I have to do to my boat seem not worth talking about. Keep us all posted on the progress.
