Looking for the side panels for an 83 SR, the side deck panel if you want to call them that. Thne long panels on each side, if that helps, otherwise I will have to make a temp plates. Would anyone know of a place and/or anyone out there have them.:smt100:smt100:smt009:smt009

are u talking about the inside gunnel panels, ?? re done mine,, one side was good other side was rotting i bought a sheet of marine plywood, made a template from old one,

Yes, that's the name of the panels, I'm thinking of doing the same thing, Thanks for the return question.:smt024

I would think a local auto/marine upholstery shop would be able to help you out. I don’t know what the design was but this is possibly something you could do your self if the vinyl is just wrapped and stapled over the plywood and then attached. Remember that marine and treated plywood are not the same!

Those (and the seating bases) were pretty well rotted when I bought mine two years ago. I used the old ones as templates and made new ones from white and black Seaboard (you can see them in my sig). I'll never have to do it again...just a suggestion.

did you use the seaboard for the seat bases as well???? Is it structurally strong enough for them??

No, and you're right. Seaboard (and the other HDPE's) aren't strong enough. Well, it could be used, but you'd need a lot of extra intermediate support (the stuff won't span far) and coupled with the weight factor (much heavier) it didn't make sense to me.

The coaming bolsters were shot- including the plywood backs, so I was going to make new ones using Seaboard for the backs. I routed them and screwed them in place and liked them so much without the padding I left them that way. I hate vinyl...

I made the seat bases from Okoume marine plywood- very lightweight, strong, and rot-resistant. It was actually a fun project; I made them the same dimensions as the OEM bases, but modified each of them to serve a different purpose.

Thanks, guys I'll just make a template or something seeing I have a long and cold winter coming up. Thanks again.

my helm bench seat is splitting bad,,i know that it will be costly to recover,,since most trade labor in Jersey is usually quoted at $100 and hour
