I need some side views of some 270's seating on tri-axle trailers. Mine is a 83 with twin 228's

I got a trailer today but I need to take it apart and put it under the boat, I need to see about where the axles are in relation to the boat. So it's some what in balance when I get it on there.

Thanks.

Update Edit. Got it under the boat. I guess I will guess at it's positioning

Thanks Jar head.

I think I about have a idea where the CG is now. I have looked at about 10 or so on Google photos and they all pretty much have the front wheel just under the helm seat and the rear just in front of the vents.

Heather, is (was) that a trailer for a go-fast? It looks as those axles are a bit far back. I have a single engine 270DA (92') on a tri-axle and the axles are more mid-ship (sorry I have no photos on my laptop of it on a trailer and Im at the firehouse till tommorow am). The rearward axle is about where the forward part of the engine is The forward is under the mid-helm. Boat weighs appx 5600 lbs (dry), yours should be a tad heavier. I don't know if this helps - Jeff

No, I was told it had a 30' Bay-liner cabin boat on it.

And ok, now I am not sure again!!! LOL...

Maybe some one will have a photo for me before I mount them...

But yes it helps.

I was just thinking the same thing. Looks like a lot of tongue weight! This is where mine is on the tandem. Yes it has fresh bottom paint this year!

Too bad SeaRay did not include a center of gravity point in there brochures. I think I am pretty close. The forward most axle is under the "drivers seat" My rear most will be just in front of the engines? Yes No?

You can see here that on my boat the front tire is about at the windshield and the aft tire is about centered with the center of the engine.

A bit newer model and a single engine. Also I think you have a much better trailer than I do. You wheels look to be spaced more than mine do plus wheel finders. I'm jealous.! :wow:

I agree but that you have more boat in front of me and the engines as well. Do you have a highway weigh station nearby? You won't want your tongue weight more that 7-800lbs. Whatever you do that will be how you want to install them. I would try to get the wheels back on about where mine are then weigh the tongue weight, then adjust accordingly.

OK we are on wheels tonight...

It's up and on the trailer. I have one more axle to put under it and was holding off to see how the balance was. I am dead center. I can lift the hitch off the ball. it's 0 balance.

So, the last one goes in the rear. Thanks for the help guys.

It's been a long night... But it wont be long till splash down. Some cosmetics and if all the first lake test go well, windows and carpet..... and then play time.

Heather, I dont know if these will help but here is a (covered :smt009) 92' 270DA (single IO). The front axle is just behind the top of the windshield. The back axle is under the forward part of the engine. Also a pic of the bunk layout. - Jeff

Heather - are those rims a different size or is it the color being different makes it look like that?
Have fun when you splash that boat - be interested how the motors perfor.

No it's the colour they are all 15's with load rated D's on them. sure look tiny under there don't they? I shall let every one know how it does on the first lake test. I sure hope all works well. I have the windows and carpet standing by if OK. I don't think I will buff it before I go. I hate to put in all that work into it and something goes bad.

Get it mechanically sound, then put the PRETTY to it if all is well.

Noting worse than making it pretty and THEN getting it all greasy working on it.

EDIT! Good F'ing eye! I got to thinking and looking and I went out and took a peek That Grey wheel is a 14" Good job, Good EYE!!!!! Thanks.

Spookeay,
I'm curious,what yr is that boat ?
BTW, i enjoyed your vids about the 170 restoration that you did. :smt038

Just so you know this is extremely ass heavy and my boat ( here) is basically the exact same boat. Congrats on the Triple by the way its really the only way to fly on these boats and just FEELS better than a dual axle
