Just did a 8 day 387 mile trip from Red Wing Mn to Burlington Iowa on the mississippi:
We stayed in marinas in the following towns (I am including mile markers)
Red Wing - Ole Miss Marina mile 791.5 First night June 30
Lake City - Lake City Marina mile 772.8 July 1
Minona - Minona Yacht Club mile 725 July 2
La Crosse - Pettibone Boat Club mile 697.5 July 3
Prarie du Chein - Prarie du Chein Marina mile 635.8 July 4
Dubuque - Dubuque Yacht Basin mile 580.8 July 5
Clinton - Clinton Marina mile 518.7 July 6
East Moline - Marquis Yacht Club mile 488.1 July 7
Burlington - Bluff Harbor - home port mile 404.5 July 8
Cruising speed was about 28 mph at about 3100 rpm that or slow at 1000 rpm at 7 mph - most places current was 5-7 mph - so I am assuming we can add a few mph to overall speed. Sometimes we would just float with the current and swim along but had to keep an eye out....
Here is a compilation of Video and pictures documenting the trip onboard a 2005 regal 2665 - we got towed up from Fairfield to Red Wing on June 30 and set out from Red Wing on July 1 and arrived July8 2012 evening in Burlington during a record heat wave - 387 river miles and 16 lock and dams - some beautiful country - fun way to document the trip - also nice sound track by Ivan Rosenberg!

Hope you enjoy and hope it is of value for anyone else thinking about doing this kind of trip.
