8.1s 496 2001 up / oil leak

Hi All,

Have you encountered a rear seal oil leak on your 8.1S? I have V drives and I have a drip coming from the bottom of the bell housing. If you have this issue, what have you done about it? Other than a few drips per hour, what are your thoughts? Can't see spending around $2K to 3k labor for a $70 part.

If it is just from a softened or shrunk seal, run a high mileage oil with a seal sweller for one oil change interval. If it is small it will typically take care of it. Certainly won’t hurt anything if that is not the issue.
