8.1 sea water pump trouble

Hey Guys I was headi g out yesterday when my starboard engine suddenly went into guardian mode and shut down on over heat. Figuring I blew an impeller I limped back to my marina and opened the hatch to get the impeller changed and found the pully and shaft of the sea water pump had bown right out of the pump. Has anyone had this happen before? Luckily I didn't take on much water and the bilge pumps were taking care of any water that got in. Also does anyone know if these are just pressed bearings keeping the shaft in the pump I could find any type of retaining clip or anything. By the way they are 8.1 horizons.

Some of us are replacing the Merc raw water pumps with the Hardin pump. It has a replaceable wear plate.

Thank you guys for your response I will check into Hardin pumps I just haven't seen a pully and shaft blow right out kind of troubling I'm glad I had v drives the water only sprayed my transom if I had io it would of soaked my electric panel and charger and my PCM I'm going back up today to talk to my mech I want him to check the port since there was no warning or signs of impending failure just blew out.
