7 to 5 pole headache

I have a 2003 Silverado that pulls my SR. Recently I changed out the 5 pole to a 7 pole plug on my boat trailer's wiring harness so I would not have to deal with the 7 pole adapter going into the back of my truck's electrical. For the life of me, the right turn signal on my trailer barely illuminates. I know the wiring on the connector I replaced (from 5 to 7 pole) is correct.

Anyone experience this issue?:smt013

If your test light is good and strong at the truck plug, then I would look at the ground at the light, the wire to the light or the bulb itself

Haven't bought a test light...guess I should. The thing is is it works sometime, but more often it barely glows. I think the issue may be with the actual connector on my truck. Guess I will buy a test light!

Thanks

I would start by cleaning all the connections and grounds - even the connections on the bulb and in the socket. The whole process should not take more than an hour, and it should fix your problem.

Not that this is a cure all but it used to work for me. When I used to trailer, I got so sick and tired of ground related problems that I made a ground wire out of "00" ga. entrance cable. that stayed permanently mounted to the trailer and I had a eye fitting, a stud and a wing nut on the truck near the trailer hitch. It was simple to hook up every time I towed the boat. Just make sure the cable is long enough to make tight tuns.

By damn, I will say that ended my ground problems between the truck and trailer.
