resolution..... I thumped the tach and it dropped 1000 rpm to it's normal position... all is well after the callibration slap. Thanks for the info and efforts.

Had you ever tried exercising the switch? I'm curious since it would be awful weird that moving the switch back and forth would be unsuccessful while a simple bump would work.

nope never tried it.... just gave it a thump the other day while out for a cruise
