On a Sea Ray 34, one of the hoses came loose, due to a clamp failure and soaked the engine conpartment with salt water. Now the engine is missing above 2800. It most likely is missing below, just do not notice it. It starts fine and there is no solid miss, you can see the sync gage moving erratically when it get above 2800.

We have not checked the wires or inside the dist cap, will do that tomorrow. She got a real bath
of salt water 3 weeks ago and externally she is dry. Today it was just to hot to play with a hot engine. Tomorrow I plan to pull the dist cap and check the wires for mositure.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Had a similar issue. The salt attracts moisture, and my ignition wires were arcing on top of the cap. They were 10 year old wires on there way out.
