I have to replace my port motor and if have found I can not buy a brand new Gen v 7.4 , I can buy a new gen VI for replacement, is there anything I should know? I will have a gen v Starboard and a Gen VI port......

Yes, that I did read. but just wondering if anything else. I know parts some parts are not interchangeable , but this is going to be a new drop in.... Thanks for your reply Jeff

I would be concerned about your tranny and fuel pump bolting up. If that's a go everything else should work fine

I replaced both of my Gen V with Gen VI.
Brand new 2013 GM marine long blocks, everything was a direct bolt on.
Intake, ignition, alternator, water pump, raw water/fuel pump, transmission, engine mounts, are all 100% the same :)

Not sure if you'll notice a different power curve or not?
My new engines are more powerful but.....I'm comparing them by "seat of the pants" feel and they replaced orignal 1995 1000 hour engines that were still running good.

Are you sure your Gen V..?
1992 might be Mark IV (Gen IV)

I need a replacement motor too, where are you getting the replacements from?
