Had a great day out on the water today. 2007 260 SunDeck with a 6.2 litre DTS, Bravo III & 200 hours. It was well over 30 C here today which is like a serious heat wave.
Ran like a top out & back about 2 hours each way. Idling around near the ramp waiting for another boat to get out & the engine dies.Tried to restart a few times & no start. Turned over easily on the starter, coughed & sputtered a bit but wouldn't catch.
Dropped the anchor in as the river current was pushing us towards the cable ferries. Had a quick look in the engine bay. No fuel leaking, nothing looked out out of place. Let it cool a bit & still no start.
Asked another boater to tow us the 100' we needed to get to the wharf. Got it on the trailer & it's home in the driveway.

Haven't looked at again since. My first thought is fuel, most likely a plugged filter.
Anyone have any other ideas ?

Is there fuel in there?

Sounds like vapor lock to me. Extreme heat, idling equals no airflow through engine room equals high temps which vaporized fuel in fuel line equals no start. I bet you go out to your boat right now and start it it'll fire right up

Yes, forgot to mention. Tank is well over 1/2 full.

Just something easy to check.... did you actually look at the fuel tank to make sure there really is gas in it? It should be translucent, allowing you to see the level of fuel in the tank. Sometimes the fuel gauge goes bad and it gives a wrong reading.

Certainly sounds like a fuel issue.
Vapor lock is not too common on the newer engines and cool fuel pumps, but certainly possible. Put it on muffs and try starting it now that it cooled off. If still nothing, put a fuel test gauge on the Schrader valve on the fuel rail and look for 40 psi when cranking. 2007 is in the window for the bad cool fuel modules if it is original.

Didn't pull the floor hatch & look at the fuel tank. I did, however, fill it just before we put it in the water. Fuel burn was right where I expected considering boat loading, speed & distance we travelled. I'll look at it tonight if local temps cool down any. Anything over 25 C here & our bodies all start to shutdown. Give me -25 C anytime !

Left it with my mechanic for the week. Started everytime he tried it. No codes presented, everything looks normal.
Would a bad IAC produce an error code ?
