6.2 Mpi-help

It's 4th of July weekend, having issue with starboard engine. Replaced plugs, cap and rotor. Switched map senser and other components with port engine. Running rich and missing, could it be the distributor pick up? 2001 6.2 Mpi! Thank you!

The new distributor cap is defective -- I had the same problem with two different caps. First I purchased an aftermarket from Sierra and experienced same problem. I thought I crossed wires when replacing. Happen to put the old cap back on and the problem went away. Purchased another "mercruiser part" cap and the same problem.
The owwner of the marina mentioned to me that a problem exists with this style cap and that from what he heard NAPA brand cap had resolved the issue.
I went to a NAPA auto parts and purchased a cap and have not had a problem since. If you need the NAPA part let me know I can get it for yoy quickly.

Thanks for the reply, I've made it a point not to buy Sierra products. My problem turned out to be a compression issue, looks like I have a value problem. I'll be pulling the heads off next weekend.
