It's time to upgrade the 20" TV in the master stateroom. Has anyone with a 550/58DB replaced theirs yet? I'm thinking of putting a 26" backlit LED in its place. I'm pretty sure I'll have to relocate the two Bose surround sound speakers as well. Is the mounting panel for the original TV only secured with the 2 screws accessible from the closets on either side? If not what else is there? How is the TV secured to that panel?

My impression is that you (we) will need to remove the vinyl covered panel that is under the tv and runs horizontally to the the porthole to access the backside of the tv and the mounting screws/bolts. Let's keep each other posted on this topic! And if you don't mind, could you share the dimensions of the panel that the tv mounts to? I assume that since you mention a 26" lcd tv that is what I should shop for - but I'd still like the dimensions to layout the tv and speaker relocation. Thanks!

Jeff

I have the dimensions, but they are a year old and my writing is somewhat illegible. Here goes; the wood panel the TV is mounted on is 40 1/2" wide and 17" high. From speaker edge to speaker edge (inside) there is 28 1/2". There's room to move the speakers outboard of their current location. Now I'm wondering if I was thinking of a 26" or 32" LED TV. I think it was actually a 32". I did not look at the panel under the TV, I'll have to look at that this weekend. Do you (or anyone else) know how to pry that panel off?

Thanks Brian! I think it's more the 17" measurement that will limit TV size than the width. As for the panel below, I seem to recall there being two visible screws (with plastic caps over them) on the left and right side. You might also need to remove the window blind which appears to be mounted to the panel in question.

the 580 /500 are different master set ups how are you both compairing notes?
