So I went to lower the platform today to check the zincs for likely replacement and when I hit the switch in the starboard cockpit it sounded like the solenoid latched but I got no reaction from the lift when I hit the buttons. I pushed the switch again and did not hear the customary solenoid unlatching. Looking at the CWD's in the Owner's Manual it does not list a breaker for either the DC switch or the pump itself. Anybody know if and where the breaker is? Anybody know the size of the fuse for the pump? I hate to climb back there twice in this heat if I can avoid it.

Brian,
The breaker for my swim platform is in the engine room in the big grey electrical box that the cover is screwed on.
Yours is probably in same place.

Brian - stupid question - are you using the remote or the wired control?

Carter, Remote. Red light comes on. I do not hear the latching solenoid when I turn the switch on.

Thank you,I am familiar with that grey box from either or both my 44DB and 52DB, the 58 does not have that box, however, I do have another vertically mounted DC box that I will need to open tomorrow. I'm guessing it's in there. Unbelievable that EVERY '06 and later 58DB had the hydraulic platform but at least for '06 it did not make it into the wiring diagrams.

Brian-

I’m not aware of any hidden breakers off the top of my head (my main breaker is on the bulkhead above the port battery bank) but there may be a push button breaker on the pump unit itself? Mine was acting strange last week with similar symptoms to yours. I tried the hard wired control and all worked fine. So today I replaced the batteries in both fobs and everything is back to normal.

Might be worth a try?

Jeff

Brian,

I'm sure you have this, but in case you don't or if anyone is interested, here are the GHS' Lifts electrical diagrams...

Jeff, thanks, I’ll take a look but I could not find a breaker for the lift on the DC panel above the port batteries. Carter and Jeff, I’ll try the wired remote this morning, though I suspect there is no power to the pump since I don’t hear the latching solenoid close. I’ll update later.

I crawled in the engine room and had my wife energize the lift. It appears to be on the Starboard side behind the genset. I can't do it now, but I will crawl back there and find its specific location. Have you tried to lower it with the cabled handset? We have three of those key fobs and only one works. What I read in the manual is that they lost their programming and they need to be re programmed. All have new batteries.

Ken

Carter, yep, got it. Being the neat freak I am I downloaded the whole manual and had it bound for inclusion in my 58DB hard copy library.

Brian,

I think you've talked to Rick at GHS before...855-791-0128... rpassaretti@ghslift.com
Yes, Rick is extraordinarily helpful. He helped me through an issue with lowering the unit. Turned out to be the hydraulic filter was plugged. He gave me trouble shooting procedures to work through to determine it was the filter and also gave me instructions on how to temporarily bypass it. Rick had the replacement ($208) to me in two days. GHS gets 5 stars for customer service.

Ok, update. The first thing I did today was pull out the switch in the cockpit to make sure all the wires were properly seated. I replaced this switch and connectors 6 years ago and was shoucked at the poor condition of the terminals, connectors and wires. Replaced all and since has worked flawlessly till yesterday. So, after confirming everything behind the switch was good, put it back and connected the wires controller, hit the switch, turned the controller on and voila, everything worked. The odd thing after that was the remote control worked as well. I’ll put new batteries in The remote when we get home next week. I don’t have an explanation for this one, maybe Operator error or my own impatience.

Oh and I haven’t gone looking for the latching solenoid or the DC breaker or the fuse on the latching solenoid (which I believe the drawing says is 2A). There also appears to be a 5A and 10A fuse on the load side of the latching solenoid. At 90 degrees and high humidity that search will wait for another day.

Great news - glad to hear it.. I replace that switch 3 years ago and was amazed at the corrosion on the terminals and connectors. Maybe you just needed a "wiggle"!!

My light on the switch no longer works, and I bet its one of those 5 amp blade fuses - at least that's what it looks like it could be from the wiring diagrams...

Carter, that’s funny, the light on my switch is out too. I’ll have to get my eyes on those fuses. Always something.

For those that use the wired remote you might find this helpful. My wired remote stopped working so I called GHS for the replacement but they had changed the type of connection which would required me to rewire the entire remote. I took the remote to an independent computer repair guy and he replaced all the internal contacts under the on, off, up, down switches for about $50 it has worked perfectly for the last three years.

If you are having problems with your wireless remote I would try replacing the battery First . If that does not work there is a Computer “Brians” box in the engine room that probably needs to be reset. It is an easy process but not easy access in some ER’s.

Hi everyone. I have a 46 Sundancer and it too has the GHS platform. We just recently purchased the boat. The lift was working great and last time trying to use it, didn't work. I get the "beep beep beep" noise using the wired remote and nothing else happens. No movement. Is it possible that the lift motor popped a breaker? If so, where would I locate it? Thank you.
