58 Sedan Bridge Official Thread

There are two pieces of starboard. One shaped like a “U” with three cuts in it. The other fits into to cuts for the three positions. I will send pics next time I check on Miss N Mountains repair progress.

By the way, they were missing from my 48 sundancer. Dawn from Goia Sails sent them to us at no charge. They did not fabricate the sun pads on the 58.

Ken

Can you may be the only one of us that still has the original set up.
Pictures would be great!
When do you figure she’s going to be done

We don’t know. Still nothing has been done. It sucks because she sat for two months down there with no power. I suspect 7 trashed batteries.

Ken

Chris do you still have the attachment holes where the backrest was screwd into the deck mine are filled in. You may just have to get a custom upholsterer to do the whole thing - including the back rest

Yep, still have the hardware.

And a local canvas shop will do the pad. At this point we're trying to figure out how the hardware interacts with the pad...

Pretty sure the POS pad that came on the boat wasn't the original. It has the segments separated at the top for the two individual reclining parts, but no obvious way for the hardware to prop those up comfortably.

I have the originals as well, just like Ken described. I will grab some pics.

That'd be great, thanks!

Our local canvas people just did the basic measurements yesterday, and there's me thinking this would be one of the easier projects. Au contraire. As they asked me how the backrest thingies work. Duh. Who knows? Never tried to use them, so never really paid any attention. But then it became even more obvious that what we had there (falling part, actually) wasn't original.

So now they're on hold...

This after finally showing up yesterday for the first time, having told me they'd be able to get it done by probably April. Presumably April of this year. Uh, huh.

That would help a LOT, thanks!

That confirms what Dawn told me, too. She couldn't remember, rummaged around, didn't find anything for 58s.

@missnmountains @swaterhouse

Guys, in the meantime, can you mention whether the Starboard pieces you've mentioned are inserted into the sunpad? Or separate?

And does the original pad fold in threes, crosswise? (The "Exterior Deck" picture in the Parts Manual suggests maybe.) Or in half, lengthwise?

I should be at the boat today and can take some pics of the Starboard arrangement on the bow cushion back rest if you like. It sounds like the same setup as you have.

The starboard is integrated into the pad. When removed other than attachment points nothing is left on the bow. We have a rainy forecast for the weekend so I may not be there this weekend.

That helps, thanks, Scott. Our canvas persons -- after silence since February -- have all of a sudden decided to get on with it, so I'm hoping to not hold them up now that they've appeared.

Does anyone know how to access the plugins behind the tv in the bunk room? We have a 2007 580 and it appears that they drilled a hole through the wall behind the panel. Im guessing it leads to behind the freezer. I tried removing the return air wood vent next to the freezer but it wont pull out and i dont know if thats the right way to access it. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hmmm... doesn't look like what ours would have been, Tom.

Might be same principle, though, and it looks like maybe what Ken has described. Ken and Scott both have 2008 models, so maybe there was some evolution since ours was built.

Our backrest recliner frames are U-shaped 7/8" stainless bows, attached to the deck with hinges. They must mate with something in or attached to the reclining part of the backrest...

Guess I hadn't even yet thought to take pics of them, so I'll have to do that tomorrow.

You changed boats? No longer a 44? :)

The only cable behind the original tube-style analog TV in our bunk room was the TV coax. And the only access to that I found was through the little hole, lower left, on the back panel face.

I had to use a Sawz-All to cut the screws Sea Ray used to capture the the TV -- threaded into the TV from the underside of the cubbyhole "floor." Short metal blade for front screws, long demolition blade for rear screws (couldn't find a metal blade long enough).

There's a 120VAC electric outlet on the left panel, rear, bottom. Just now, I'm using the area for the portable battery rechargers. And a small portable fan, for constant air circulation.

Hey Chris! Yes! We were actually supposed to close on the sale of our 44 last september the Friday after IAN hit and close on the 580 that monday. We needless to say the 44 was destroyed when Legacy Harbour (downtown fort myers) was destroyed. We had good insurance and they cut us a check fairly quickly so we moved on the 580 still. Picked it up in Fort Lauderdal and for right now keeping it in Punta Gorda. We love "Love & Luck "II"!!! :D
